PechaKucha Night is an event that was born in 2003 in Tokyo, helped by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein Dytham Architecture (KDA). This meeting is being developed successfully in over 305 cities worldwide (Miami, Mexico, Toronto, Vienna, Manchester, Shangai, Helsinki, Bangkok)
PechaKucha Night (PKN), seeks the relevance of the field of creative art, design … etc. in a simple way, attractive and entertaining it focus on its own meaning. PechaKucha, wich comes from the Japanese, chit-chat, talk in Spanish…is a format where the artists, designers, companies, curators and scientists present their ideas and their stories, surprisingly.
The proposal offered to participants is simple: 20 slides are projected for 20 seconds each, which content is the work of the participant. During that time, the speaker makes a dynamic exhibition of his work. Once the presentations are finished, the evening continues with exchanging point of views, contact cards, partner searching…all within a relaxed atmosphere and enjoyable music.
Each act in a new city, it’s establishing a platform that gives visibility to local designers, having a coverage on mass media (websites, blogs …) and developing networks and communication channels constantly.
It’s a fun and creative event, where it exchanges ideas and experiences. Here, it prevails the expression and dissemination of various disciplines. Therefore, PechaKucha Night becomes a platform for art and culture, in which communication and establishment of synergies between the participants and the public are the main figures.
