Tenerife Design Festival
The first edition of the Tenerife Design Festival ended with very successful attendance. Over 6000 people have enjoyed this event dedicated to design that took place from the 19th to the 25th October 2009. TDF managed to merge the international design scene with the features of the local identity of the Canary Islands.
TDF has proposed an innovative approach to design based on three fundamental concepts: Local identity, landscape contrast and tourism. These questions have been the starting point to establish synergies among local agents and international approaches, consolidating design as a tool of change and an economic driving force.
During the Festival, a number of events, interventions and activities were carried out by well-known designers and creators from different cities around the world, as well as there being the chance to get to know the ideas of Canarian designers. “Thinking of Tenerife” through design has been one of aims that TDF has achieved and it is expected that the festival will become a regular appointment with design on the island.
